At VIDEA, we are dedicated to addressing vital international development issues such as decolonization, social justice, human rights, climate justice, and gender justice. We are engaged in many transformative programs with youth in Zambia and Uganda, and with Indigenous youth across Turtle Island.
The Global Solidarity Challenge (GSC) is VIDEA’s annual fundraiser – it is a huge reason we are able to do what we do!! The unrestricted funds raised during the GSC allow us to direct our resources where and when they are needed most!
Now, let me share a bit about my role in VIDEA. In my role as the Feminist Programmes Coordinator, I have spent the last year facilitating a group of Indigenous youth in creating climate justice curriculum and an Indigenous youth sex worker safety program. Our reach has extended across Canada, and the impact we’ve made on youth has been immeasurable. Recently, I was honored to join the board of the Canadian Association of International Development Professionals as the only youth on the board! I also had the privilege of speaking at Cooperation Canada and was invited to participate on an Amnesty International Panel for the launch of their human rights agenda. I am committed to ensuring my voice, and the voices of those we serve, continue to be heard across the sector.
Our fundraising campaign is vital for the continuation of VIDEA’s work. We can’t express enough how every single contribution matter and helps us continue the amazing work we do! Thank you for your continued support.
