Hello everyone,

Thank you for visiting my GSC page! It’s been a rough year for most folx, but there hasn’t been any point in the past 18 months that I haven’t felt grateful to work with the amazing people at VIDEA! I’ve also felt so so proud of the work that everyone has done in the past year. I hold all of the team at VIDEA in the highest regard from the way that they have stepped up and leant in to deliver additional programmes for youth who have been facing increased vulnerability, exclusion, loneliness, and trauma. This VIDEA team is forever in my heart because of the way everyone has brought love, understanding, and passion to their work through these difficult times. It hasn’t just been COVID-19 that the team has been working with, this has also been a time of decolonisation and reconciliation, but a time where Indigenous people in Canada have continued to be more impacted by the impacts of the pandemic, by climate change, by gender inequality, by a lack of action on the implementation of the MMIWG Calls for Justice and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action; a time where present and historical trauma has continued to cause hurt and to limit opportunities. It has also been a time where young people have had to deal with increased racism, increased online hate, and where neither physical nor online spaces have felt safe. It has also been a time where inequality at home and globally has been exacerbated, a time where we worry about our overseas staff, partners and programme participants, who are not able to access the health care that is their human right. And it’s been a time where gender inequality across the world has taken a huge step backwards, including in Canada. A time where more womxn and girls are facing increased caregiving and household duties, increased discrimination and harassment, increased gender based violence, and increased gender inequality. But it is also a time that this VIDEA team has gained in size, diversity, passion and commitment. I am fund raising to support this work, to support the work that our our incredible, caring, and kick-ass (youth) team do to ensure that under-represented youth around the world, including in Canada, have the support and resources they need to  lead and change this world:)
