This year I am on team Ewe Got Mail for our annual fundraising event, the Global Solidarity Challenge. Never has there been a year where global solidarity seems more important. While COVID has dominated the news and our lifestyles, issues of racism, climate change, violence against women, and human rights, to list just a few, have also dominated the news as never before. VIDEA has been engaged in projects which address so many aspects of these issues. My challenge is to try to be as informed and up to date as possible. With that in mind, my challenge this week is to read something which is relevant to one topic of concern each day . So, I have set up an “auto” delivery of links to my email! (my partner being the “auto” sender :)). This is my EWE GOT MAIL reading list for the GSC. After you donate perhaps you might be interested in reading some of these too !
Monday July 19 Truth and Reconciliation: reread the TRC Calls to Action
Tuesday July 20 Decolonization: read UNDRIP Canada
Wednesday July 21 Climate Action: read/listen to UN reports for June 24-July 20
Thursday July 22 LGBTQ2I : read Gov’t of Canada website material
Friday July 23 Racism: read Globe and Mail article of July 10/21
Saturday July 24 Online Hate: read Canada Women’s Foundation Facts about online hate.
I have been a part of the VIDEA community since 2007. Over the last 14 years I have seen VIDEA provide vital and invaluable contributions to local, national and global communities. I am so proud to be a part of this organization, and of those we continue to support in those communities. I hope that you too will consider supporting the work we do. Please scroll down to donate. All donations over $25 will receive tax receipts.
Many thanks for your support !!
